Clean the drives regularly using
a wet/dry disk cleaning kit. This
will help to keep the drive heads
(arguably THE most important yet
vulnerable component in any duplicator)
in tip-top condition. |
| > |
Try to keep the system as dust-free
as possible, blowing air (from
the compressor or using an air
duster) around the drive to prevent
a build-up, which can cause premature
head wear. |
| > |
Use high quality duplication
grade diskettes. Low grade diskettes
are cheap for good reason! They
are often badly made with weld
problems, and 'sloppy', ill-fitting
shutters. A single bad disk can
destroy a head. |

When storing a drive for later
use, place a piece of paper between
the heads, preventing them from
coming into contact with each
other. They can become 'stuck'
together, causing damage when
they are separated. |
