Q: Why are there no prices on your website?
A: Because we like to talk to our customers! Through talking to people we often find they're not sure what they want, or maybe think they do but didn't realise an alternative solution was available to better suit their needs. Besides, have you seen some of the price lists on competitor websites? They're mindblowing, trying to find what you need can take ages and the chances are that you'll call them for a price anyway!

Q: Why do you claim to be the 'Leading Authority...'?
A: Having been in business for over 25 years - and with over 120 man years of experience - we are one of the longest running companies in the duplication industry. We don't just copy CDs and DVDs, we also copy diskettes and a huge range of tapes - so we have an unrivalled knowledge of all media manufacturing. Plus, see how our website got us into the national press!

Q: How do I supply masters and artwork to you?
A: Master:
We prefer to receive a physical master on the same media as the copies you require, for example, if you want 100 DVDs then we'd like to have the data on a DVD. Of course this isn't always possible so we are able to do most media conversions, and can accept data electronically via FTP or email.
Artwork:
The majority of our clients send their artwork on a CD, but with the prevalence of broadband, we are receiving a lot of artwork via email and FTP.

For security reasons, our FTP site does not accept anonymous users, so please contact us so that we can configure a secure area and issue you with a username and password - it only takes a couple of minutes!

Q: Can you store masters that we use frequently?
A: Yes, we have the facility to be able to store your silver master tapes, diskettes, CDs and DVDs on our premises - just let us know that you wish us to store them as we normally return masters. No original/gold masters please!

Q: Can a computer virus be passed on during duplication?
A: Strictly speaking, YES! All PC master diskettes, CDs and DVDs are virus checked using the latest McAfee VirusScan - which is updated daily. As we are only able to virus-check PC diskettes, we cannot check UNIX diskettes, 4mm DAT tapes, etc. and have to rely on the fact that your masters are checked prior to them leaving your premises. If you have a master tape or diskette (that we cannot check) which, unknown to you, contains a virus and you require 100 copies, then each of the 100 duplicates will contain that original virus. But the good news is that if your master is virus-free, our duplication equipment can NOT infect the copies with viruses, as the individual files on the media are not accessed - all of our systems are bit-copiers.

Q: What quality control procedures do you have?
A: The very nature of our business requires us to have strict quality controls. Each aspect of our duplication process has written procedures and work instructions to ensure that all work carried out is done in a controlled manner, eliminating human error and reducing problems. If a problem does occur then we have procedures allowing us to trace back to the root cause, maybe to change a routine or a supplier for example, ensuring similar problems do not arise in the future.

Q: Where does the name 4B Martinvest come from?
A: The original name "Martinvest" came from Companies House as a pre-formed, off-the-shelf company. In 1996 we added "4B" as all 4 members of Peter Bridson's (the M.D.) immediate family now worked for the business. An interesting byproduct is that we now feature towards the top of alpha-numeric lists!
