Low
volume copy-protection for DVD video
4B Martinvest are pleased to be able to offer a
copy-protection solution for low volume DVD video
duplication. Called Patronus, it provides reliable
anti-rip protection for DVDs for numbers as low
as 50 copies.
Methods to protect disc content from casual copying
have been available for years, however the discs
needed to be pressed meaning you would need to have
over 1000 discs manufactured - often hundreds more
than were actually needed.
How does it work?
Patronus introduces copy control encapsulation in
areas of the disc not read by DVD players during
playback, and as the original content is not modified
in any way, the quality of play-back is unaffected.
The copy-protected discs are compliant with the
DVD standard.
Patronus effectively controls access to the content
by common ripping programs and provides effective,
speed bump protection from unauthorised copying.
The result is copy-controlled discs with playability
matching that of unprotected DVDRs.
Complex content - including menus, special features,
extras and even dual layers - are protected by the
passive technology of Patronus, which ensures no
changes are made to the original video files during
analysis.
