The
talking jewel case?
OK, so the jewel case doesn’t actually ‘talk’
to you, but if you press the button on the case
spine it will play pre-recorded soundbites.
Called pre.vu™, the product looks exactly
like a standard jewel case but with some clever
electronics squeezed inside and a small unobtrusive
speaker and button on the spine. When pressed, up
to 60 seconds of high quality audio can be heard.
Developed originally for the audio CD retail market
(e.g. to allow purchasers to hear track samples
before buying) there is potential for crossover
into the B2B market (eg. promotional campaigns,
direct marketing, etc).
A survey carried out on behalf of pre.vu™
found that 80% of respondents (from 500 interviewed
in major music retailers) stated they would only
buy new music if they could hear it before purchase.
