Press Pack CDs

In an increasingly competitive business climate the manner in which new products are launched is becoming more important. Launching new products should be a fanfare, catching the eye of clients and consumers.

Your press pack can not be overlooked as this is key to how your product will be reported on across your targeted markets.

Traditionally, press packs have been delivered in hard copy – documents of information, photos of the product, maybe a company profile - being passed on to journalists with an interest in your market

There are a number of problems:-

Expense
The cost of putting something like this together is high - volume printing, collation, reproduction of high resolution photos and of course, shipping...and paper weighs a lot! If you are launching in several languages, each language may require its own pack...more printing!

Physical Size
A pack like this may contain a considerable amount paper. Not only cumbersome to carry around, (e.g. at trade shows), they are awkward to store. Shipping costs can be extremely high due to the combined weight – particularly if you're launching at a trade show on the other side of the world.

Inflexibility
Printing is a manufacturing process that cannot be rushed. Designs need to be signed off, plates need to be manufactured, and wet proofs approved. Once the job has been run, it needs to be dried, collated and delivered. This all takes time. If there is an addition to the pack at the last minute, it may not be included because the production deadline has passed.

Usability
It may not be easy for journalists to find the information or photos they are looking for. As a result, their job is made more difficult and they're less likely to look at your product favourably.

If paper has these problems, why not use a CD instead?

Using a CD as the deliverable medium will:-
> reduce your costs (in a number of ways)
> provide increased usability to the user
> improve the quality of the content delivered
> provide increased flexibility
> be convenient to handle and store

How...?
A CD is not as bulky as paper, therefore reducing shipping and storage costs. You will not have the expense of reproducing high quality photographs, relatively small print runs and complex collation/fulfillment charges. Lower costs mean that your marketing budget will go further.

There is no need to worry about the logistics and expense of producing different packs in different languages – the storage capacity on a CD is enough to allow all languages in the one pack.

A CD can be navigated easily – saving the user time (and time is money). Depending on the layout of the user interface, photos can be viewed, chosen and downloaded without problem. Also, as the photos are in electronic format there will be no loss of quality in reproduction – protecting your images and corporate identity. Thus the quality of the content can be delivered as intended.

The duplication of CDs takes a comparatively short amount of time, allowing amendments and additions to be made fairly late on in the production schedule. This gives you more flexibility, ensuring your press packs are delivered as comprehensively and accurately as possible. Where appropriate links can be added to the CD that guide the user to relevant places on your website – thus providing further information.

The great thing about a CD is its size (even more so if you chose a business card or mini CD). It is convenient to carry around and also, when the user has finished with it can be stored away neatly...

...so, can you afford to not use CDs for your press packs?
